This packer is run with the neoprene element at the top of the packer.
RUNNING AND SETTING INSTRUCTIONS
While running packer in the hole, be careful to watch for hole conditions that would cause premature setting of the packer. These packers are equipped with brass shear pins designed to withstand limited setting forces arising from crooked holes, etc.
When the anchor or tail pipe rests on bottom, the weight of the tubing above the packer causes the pins to shear. Additional telescoping of the packer compresses the neoprene element thereby affecting a seal. If pins have not sheared due to the superimposed weight, the tubing or casing should be raised, and then lowered quickly with some impact to shear the pins.
Pull tubing and retrieve packer. No preparatory steps are required.
