SETTING AND PULLING INSTRUCTIONS
PARMACO STANDARD TENSION PACKERS
ORIENTATION AND USE
This packer is run with the neoprene element at the bottom of the packer. The packer sets in an upward movement resulting from pulling on the tubing. It is suitable for setting in open hole or casing.
RUNNING AND SETTING INSTRUCTIONS
While running packer in the hole, take care not to turn the packer. The last move of the packer before starting the setting operation must be downward – approximately one foot.
The packer is set by turning one half turn to the left (counter clockwise looking down) then raise by pulling on the tubing to engage the slips and neoprene. The pull on the tubing wedges the slips against the wall and causes the neoprene to expand thereby affecting the seal.
Lower the packer approximately one foot. Then turn packer one half turn to the right (clockwise looking down) in order to hook up the slips in the disengaged position. The packer should then be ready for pulling. In the event the slips have not disengaged and the packer will not pull, repeat the disengagement operation starting with lowering the tubing one-foot. If necessary, turn the tubing to the right while lowering the packer one-foot.
Because of the great pressure involved in formation fracturing and other operations, the well bore must be able to resist the mechanical and hydraulic forces involved.
In the event a packer is to used in acidizing a well, care should be taken to pull the packer after acidizing in order to prevent the seizing of packer components due to corrosive action. Otherwise, difficulty could be encountered later in pulling the packer.
Always keep tension packers off the bottom of the hole.
